GenAI is going great (this is real)

@nxadm@infosec.exchange @GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social @haploc@fedi.cr-net.be wow so this is how google search dies, neat

GenAI is going great (this is real)
@GossiTheDog WTF is even broken in Spanish

GenAI is going great (this is real)
@GossiTheDog don’t worry, they are improving it. It told me only two days.
-
If anybody is wondering how this keeps happening, Google pull their AI output from Reddit. Somebody posted a Reddit thread saying days have fish in them, so now Google replies saying that. Google just blindly trusts any poster on Reddit (not a joke).
@GossiTheDog This is exactly the problem. Compare to the output of gemma 4 e2b (literally the weakest current model you can run at home on most laptops) below.
...me trying to jailbreak models while Redditors do it accidentally.
-
@catsalad @rx13 @GossiTheDog I also got "two days" but no explanation or reference to exotic fish. I'm not worthy of further explanation it seems
@hszakher @catsalad @rx13 @GossiTheDog lol, it looks like there it listed Tuesday as one of the days because it previously said "two days"... And they share letters...
And listed Friday because fish shares letters with Fri.

GenAI is going great (this is real)
I dunno, an ai said it? They're really expensive. It must be true. Sigh. Ill start changing my calendars

GenAI is going great (this is real)
@GossiTheDog
It's getting better. Google now tells me there are only 2 days with fish in the name. Plus I should eat fish 2 times a week. It has no opinion on mercury levels though. -
GenAI is going great (this is real)
@GossiTheDog while it seems fixed for me with the original query, I can reproduce getting nonsensical replies in German:
-
@CliftonR @GossiTheDog Lesson learned. If I don't like an Ai answer, just keep asking until I get the answer I want. Very intelligent.
@Lightfighter @CliftonR @GossiTheDog if you recognize the answer as correct (or wrong) you didn't need the ai.
-
GenAI is going great (this is real)
@GossiTheDog good it still can find letters in words.
-
GenAI is going great (this is real)
@GossiTheDog
It didn't work now, so i tested a classic one and... Hey, at least "it's" "trying" -
@Lightfighter @CliftonR @GossiTheDog if you recognize the answer as correct (or wrong) you didn't need the ai.
@Lightfighter @CliftonR @GossiTheDog and if you _don't_ know if the answer is correct (or wrong) you shouldn't use the ai answer... except maybe in cases where a guess is useful?

@GossiTheDog funny thing it says two days for me and I don't even see reddit as a source listed.

@poleguy @Lightfighter @GossiTheDog
I think they were being ironic about it.

@CliftonR @Lightfighter @GossiTheDog Yes, I didn't miss the irony! I very much agree.
I'm just preaching to the choir a bit, just like everyone else here. And the echo in the chamber here makes my voice sound great!
It's fun, but, now I'll stop typing and just carry on singing in my head.

Anybody can abuse this one btw, just post bullshit on Reddit about a company supporting Israel or whatever and Google recites it.
There's an AI company where you pay them and they'll get anything you want into GenAI results via Reddit.

@GossiTheDog Finally, SEO for LLMs.

@GossiTheDog What bothers me most about this screenshot is that they're advertising posting a statement to AskReddit.

@GossiTheDog It was only a matter of time before the SEO industry broke into "poisoning AI responses for money".
Every AI response in 6 months is going to have a horrific political bias to it.
