        My daughter's BD is tomorrow, also. Happy Birthday to our "girls". Mine's 53.

          @Puck happy birthday! It's not the worst day to have a bd, everyone's off work and available, tven if you have to share the day.

          If you're not aware, in Denmark there's no Christmas on the 25th, everything happens on the 24th in the evening 🙂

            @EvilCartyen
            My maternal grands were from
            Schlewig-Holstein and that was their tradition, also. So we had xmas with them and then the American xmas morning at home.

              @Puck best of both worlds 😉 we're considering saving some presents for the 25th purely to save time, since it takes forever if we have to go through everything for 15 people on Christmas eve.

                I'll be spending xmas alone and honesty, I don't mind it one bit. 🙂

                  @Puck fair 🙂 I love the big family events, though it is sort of intense and by the end of it you're ready to be a bit on your own.

                  Where abouts in Schleswig Holstein? About half of historical Schleswig is Danish these days, and from 1864 to 1920 it was all German with a large Danish minority. Before 1864 the two duchies were under Danish rule but independent entities.

                  Much of my family lived in what is now Germany, around Flensburg. About 40% of Flensburg spoke Danish in 1920.

                    My grandmother's family were in the Husum area. My grandfather a bit south of there. Greatgrandfather was from Hamburg. There was a maternal gg grandfather who was a Danish sailing Captain. Genetics show up from everywhere the Vikings went, all the way down to Ukraine.

                    Paternal side is British Isles. My people, it seems, got around.
