@benroyce Actually, as a European I always wondered why Americans want to call a game football, when it is obviously predominantly played by holding, throwing and catching a ball with the hands and why they chose to call another game, where the ball is almost exclusively played by shooting it with the feet, soccer.
That said, it has been that way for roughly two centuries, everybody is used to it, and normally a U.S. President should have bigger fish to fry.
This man is seriously unwell!

Soccer, rugby, American football... they are all related and evolved in such a way where the name for the sport is more historical relic than useful descriptor
