"Ploum, you should stop being an extremist! You see all in black and white but you have to grow up, accept compromises and see the other facet of things.
If some people want to burn the planet, enslave people, commit genocides, promote dangerous ideologies, destroy education and eradicate mankind, you cannot just reject them. You have to listen and find a middle ground."
@ploum
Rejetez! Reject! Rejetez!
Il n'y a pas de "middle ground" à la bonté.
Non, ploum is right in the first place! -

Already tried, didn't worked.

“It’s not as simple as that. It’s not a black and white issue. There are so many shades of gray.”
“Nope.”
“Pardon?”
“There’s no grays, only white that’s got grubby. I’m surprised you don’t know that. And sin, young man, is when you treat people as things. Including yourself. That’s what sin is.”
“It’s a lot more complicated than that—”
“No. It ain’t. When people say things are a lot more complicated than that, they means they’re getting worried that they won’t like the truth. People as things, that’s where it starts.”
“Oh, I’m sure there are worse crimes—”
“But they starts with thinking about people as things…

A few weeks ago, a client told me "we'll need to decide which far right we'll want in power", with the tone of someone speaking to a trusted party that can only agree. He was a bit ruffled when I categorically answered "none of course".Since then I've been very vocal when he talks right wing politics... he needs to show that he's in power and can make people agree with him... but I'm not an employee, there's no way he can dispose of me in the forseeable future, so I can *not* agree

@Alexis_Ids
"Sin is when you treat people as things" that's soooo spot on. I remember that I stopped reading for several minutes when I first read that sentence, just to take it in completely...

@ploum@RLetot @Alexis_Ids @ploum It blew my mind. Little teen me with my brain still forming reading Carpe Jugulum - like you paused to process. Went on to do an ethics module at third level and still nothing in that hit the nail on the head with what evil is so well as 'people as things'.

@ploum For instance, we could only enslave children! Seems like a good compromise!
