What (non-Meta) solutions do you use for events?
I like to be able to easily see which events my friends are interested in going to and invite them, as it makes it easier to coordinate. In fact that's probably the only function of FB I like...
Is anyone on friendica? I'm trying it out, as I'm especially intrigued by the calendar function, though I'm not sure it fulfils my desires.

My account there: @seraf@friendica.dk@seraf @seraf@friendica.dk organisera.org as others suggested. It runs Mobilizon. We are in the process of starting a Copenhagen-based Mobilizon instance for night life, and I think it has most of the functions that one would miss without Meta

@tadoh @phoenix_1312 @seraf@friendica.dk thanks for the recommendation, I tried Organisera to see how it works. Mobilizon seems quite cool but will stick with just @dukop for now.
It's nice that it has the ability to track signups, which DukOp doesn't, but it didn't look to me like it's possible to invite friends to an event inside the platform & see which friends are going to what like on FB
I still haven't figured out how the "group" function works though, and can't find info on Mobilizon's website

@seraf @phoenix_1312 @seraf@friendica.dk @dukop I don't think you can directy invite friends. You can share the link, and ppl can attend with their Mobilizon user, their Fediverse user or their e-mail. Don't know if the list of participants can be made public?
The group opens up for a community around the events you make. You can be more people having access to the group and making events, and can share updates and resources that are not event-specific, but more community-specific.
An example...
