My point is that everybody and their bloody dog is screaming and yelling about data centers, when in reality they are an integral part of how the entire society is working today. You might as well be raging against electricity or central heating - it's here to stay.
What people COULD go to war over is the blatant misuse of copyrighted material or the data mining from their queries, but oh no - it's a lot easer to get the pitchforks and gather around a large building somewhere.
I get that the power and water usage is a real problem, but that is a political matter. You limit expansion of production facilities with permits (or rather the lack thereof), and you do that with a basis in law - not just because you hate the people running the business.
