Amazing photo by Cheney Orr from today. Black woman sitting alone on the DC Metro with a crowd of masked white supremacists on their way to the capital to march with confederate flags.
There is also a deeper analogy for what I keep hearing over and over from Black people: finding themselves surrounded by white people who either do not know, or do not care, about how America looks from the Black person's perspective.
@deirdresm Racist white guys are getting their weak white man briefs in knots - not over how this black woman was brave being surrounded by Nazis but questioning if these white supremacists are actually being openly Nazis - because they wore masks - neoliberals do this often - reply guy nuance BS.

@deirdresm creepy photo, and very dangerous situation to be in.
Taking public transportation as a minority is hell.

@deirdresm I also note that their logo is specifically fascist. It uses the fasces symbol directly, like the Italian fascists did.

Their symbol is an _explicit_ declaration of fascism and I really think that isn't pointed out enough. It is fascist, they are fascists, and they carry a specifically fascist flag.

@deirdresm someone needs to stop the bus and kick that Black woman off...so the bus can be safely driven into a lake without causing any loss.
(and then get her a taxi to her destination so she's not late)

And like the Klan, their faces are covered because a good number of them hold respectable jobs in established positions in government, the courts, and business.

@deirdresm
I lived in DC during Tea Party days. Funny how the daily crowds of obese rednecks from Potterville would jam the public transit to protest what? The very government that enabled public transit for their protest, Medicaid which enabled them to be alive and the right to protest which, tbh, they preferred guns. In those days I realized how monumentally stupid much of the country was. The movie Idiocracy came out around this time, at least that’s when I saw it. Depressing@goatrodeo of note, firearms are not allowed on the mall for any of the 250th events and cerebrations.
There has been such strict security with a perimeter (and even tickets required to view the fireworks from the Mall) this year, you can’t even bring a metal water bottle, a cooler, or your own food @deirdresm
