@magicalgirlsabrina That predates Power Rangers by decades. Take Voltron as an example, two reasonably powerful Ro-Beasts could have taken Voltron at any time, and yet they didn't press that advantage. And even before then, it runs a thread through a great many popular culture fabrics possibly to antiquity, itself.

the don’t-call-it-buffy vampire-themed episode was better than i remembered but they mostly seemed happy that buffy’s move to upn meant they could do it
