@greenpete @afewbugs To be fair, the boat in the museum did bring a load of people across the channel once, from Dunkirk in 1940. Which was that war they keep banging on about, even though their side lost.

@afewbugs It’s not an accident, somebody is paying a lot of dicks to make YouTube videos and fb posts about how the RNLI is deliberately importing migrants.

Seeing the other story this morning about Ilfracombe pensioners breaking traffic lights because they cause brain cancer makes me think there is no story too stupid to not gain traction.

@BashStKid @afewbugs agree with this - but would add - a lot of this is actually funded by Big Tech. Many of them are YouTube creators, receiving $$$ from their high IQ content. They're very active across multiple big tech platforms.

(it's almost as if Big Tech are on the same side as them!!!)

I'm not normally a conspiracy theorist, but the idea that someone like Putin might consider a very efficient way to destabilise a country would be to mobilise a bunch of angry, resentful young men to threaten its emergency responders and council workers is looking increasingly plausible

@afewbugs The oldest propaganda trick in the book is to make normal people think the truth is a conspiracy.

A lifeboat museum says it has been forced to close after its volunteers were targeted by anti-migrant protesters.

Poole Old Lifeboat Museum said it made the decision after several incidents of "protesters verbally assaulting our volunteers".

@afewbugs If the number of people on the island is the problem, I propose throwing these thugs into the sea to make room for immigrants.

@afewbugs I think we need something like “Never ascribe to greater malice that which can be explained by individual malice”

Not necessarily Russia-directed. It's not so much a conspiracy as a general modus operandi. Fascists create problems. They also make perfectly normal things (like people wanting to live in a different country or social gender) into a moral panic.

Then they say they're the only ones who can solve the problems.

Then if you're STUPID ENOUGH to elect them, they empty the treasury into their mates' pockets and send masked police to kill you if you complain.

                  @afewbugs from the article:

”During the incident, the RNLI said it also helped to ensure the safety of anti-migrant protesters who had entered the sea off Portsmouth.”

                  I’d say this was a mistake…

@huxley @afewbugs I think we need to give the “terrorism” label a rest even here. Call the thing what it is: violent political intimidation. Calling it “terrorism” just validates a framing the government uses (with far more energy and determination than it’s shown this week) to demonise protests against climate crisis and genocide

@afewbugs Denser than the core of a neutron star.

Mass migration has serious issues that should be part of public discourse, but this is not it.

@considermycat @afewbugs You're right of course, but if the term is to be bandied about then it first should be applied to situations where actual people are being physically attacked, not to old ladies holding signs or people supergluing themselves to a pavement.

And you may be interested in making a country leave a powerful block of countries all working together to advance their economic and regulatory interests.
