He's about 70g now so he gets about 4.5cc's of the goat's milk formula every 3-4 hours. His ribs don't look gaunt any more.

You know what, it's only just now occurred to me that it could be the reason this little guy's mama was not retrieving him...she could have been the one taken by that hawk!

What made me think of this, is remembering some other tenants entering the building when I was out, and hearing one of them say "Circle of life!"* as they looked up at another nearby tree with the hunting hawk perched in it.

(*An exclamation denoting the witnessing of unnecessary death.)

Finally got ahold of the wildlife rehab today! And they have directed me to another wildlife facility...that is two+ hours' drive away. 😖

After this already super-packed week I have CE trainings all day Friday and Saturday, and I was supposed to be doing another six-hour home study CE Sunday.

But work starts up again Monday so I guess I have little choice but to take a six-hour trip instead. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hopefully my car will make it!

OMG cuteness overload...I see a tiny shiny corner where one eye is beginning to open! 😍 So he probably is between 4 and 5 weeks old. He's been a lot more active today, too. Walking around his little bin with a lot less wobble all of a sudden.

Jarrito has both eyes open! Somebody is now bright-eyed if not exactly bushy tailed! 😆

He's so excited at all the new visual input.

But he's also now startled by our appearance, hulking beasts that humans are.

Today he's around 75g, up from 60g last Saturday. (!)

I meant 60g to start! Not 50g. But he still has increased his mass by 25% in, what, five days??

Jarrito got a nice warm bath tonight after his second dinner! I could have used a mug for his tub. He keeps being smaller than I think.

All cleaned up and a clean change of bedding and a clean sock for his rice buddy.

Jarrito's most favorite object in his world is this rice buddy, a sock full of dry rice. When it's first microwaved and warm he will immediately throw himself over it and sleep like that. (When it's room temp he will just curl up next to it.)

Jarrito's (first) breakfast on the big transport day! Weigh-in: up to 85g from 60g last weekend.

A week ago he could barely stand up and his eyes were not yet open. When I first picked him up from where he was wobbling through the grass squeeping, he was so exhausted from travail he fell dead asleep in the big glove the INSTANT I picked him up.

And now look how perky and lively he is!
