#Journal of a celebrating Dutch AuDHD Pixy
(Monday, 11/05/2026).We had a decent enough night, although we had to go out 3 times, it did mean that, in total, I got about 9½ hours of sleep. Which was very welcome, and kinda needed… When Koa and I got up, it was my birthday. Although I never really celebrated it much, as I never enjoyed it that much. And, after what happened last year, with the car accident my parents were in… Yeah… Not the best memories. But, it is what it is, so we got up, and started our day.
The scale was a bit nicer again, which was good to see. Although I haven’t exercised since I got Koa, somehow, I have managed to lose 4 kilos since his arrival. And yes, Koa bites me “from time to time” (a bit too much to my liking, haha), but he hasn’t bitten off large chunks for me to lose the weight. I know I have been snacking a lot less, sleeping more, when I could (cause with Koa, I really need more than 6 hours of sleep to make it through the day), and trying to get my steps in with the short walkies with Koa every day. He’ll be allowed 11-minute walks soon, so we can try to add some more diversity to the walks, which will hopefully be more fun for him then.
I prepped Koa’s meat, I took my meds, and then I got the laptop out to check the social bits and bops. As a little gift, Koa decided to attack-and-kill my hand all of a sudden, drawing some blood with his sharp little fang… Ouch! I made him his kibble, best to eat that instead of me. He relaxed for a short while on his own. But then he started the attacks again, so I put him in the crate, so I could work on my socials, and all that.
When I had emailed a good friend, and I had written my journal toot, Koa and I headed out for walkies. After that, we played a bit, and then I had to crate him again, as he decided that skirting-boards were tasty snacks… Hmm…
Not really… I played a bit with AI, and I made two little animated stickers of a celebrating Koa. Bestie called me on the way to work, which was very nice. I had my brekkie, and then Koa and I went out for another walkies.I got a few texts from sweet friends, and I replied to them all. Then, I tried to relax a bit with some telly, and working on a little blog post. After a while, we went out for another walkies, before Koa got his second meal. Later that morning, mum texted that they were on their way to our place. So, I made sure that Koa was ready to receive the guests.
I made some coffee, and we had some cake. After that, then mum and I took the dogs out to the little gated playpen near my home. Bas wasn’t too happy with Koa being in “his house”, as he now needs to learn that there is a new dog in my home… Bas was always OK with Arwen, as she was there before him, and she was a gall… But, since Arwen passed, Bas kinda made my home his second home, and now there is a new dog, and a male one at that… It will take time, and I hope Bas will learn to accept Koa. Still, as long as Koa keeps jumping on Bas, I don’t think he will be too pleased… 🫣
The dogs had a nice time with the walk, and then it started to rain a bit. We went back, and mum had another coffee, and a nice little warm snack. While mum was still eating, dad was already hinting on wanting to head back home again… Ah well… So when mum finished, they headed to the car, and off they went. Koa and I went for a short walk, as he’d been sleeping for a bit, and when he’d done his wee, we went back to the house.
He slept in his crate, while I relaxed on the couch with some telly, until it was time to prep Koa’s food. Another short walk while the meat was warming up a bit. He had his dinner, and some more relaxing. Around 16:30, he wanted out again, so we went, and I started prepping things for bed.
