I lost about 50% of my followers

@Geri I think this maybe a structural quirk of the Fedi. I think migration signals only reach followers who are currently active and online. If a significant chunk of your audience is dormant, those connections simply won’t ‘wake up’ to update their follows when you move. I think it's less about your followers disappearing and more about the protocol revealing who is engaging regularly versus the many bots and ghost accounts. The reality of decentralization, I guess. But helps you clarify who your active community really is! -

@Geri I already wondered why you sent me 2 follow requests. Already thought your new account would be a fake. Yes, we communicated on your old instance but I didn't follow you there ... sorry.
Usually, it takes up to one week until all old followers are transferred. If not, you could contact your admin. -
@Geri Oh yes. There's more to it, for sure. I think I had to click a manual follow request, it wasn't automatic. I didn't do that. I thought it may have been someone trying to impersonate you. So, I wandered off to check! Luckily I didn't get distracted and forgot. I'm sure there are all sorts of other reasons that create friction.

Hi there!
Is the old account still there? I had the same problem and the migration stopped after just a few followers.
BUT! You can re-initiate the migration after a 30 days waiting period as described in this article: https://fedi.tips/transferring-your-mastodon-account-to-another-server/I got everyone back in the second run. Wish you luck!

@aral @david_chisnall mastdon.online - they were criticisms of the the media not mentioning the Muslim being stabbed at that event and thereby framing it exclusively as antisemitism. But hey ho.
I emphasised the abhorrent nature of AS in my post but concluded how further posts may be viewed
