    A journalist in Brazil asked me for a satellite light pollution map for São Paulo with SpaceX's awful million "AI data center" satellite plan. So, here you go. Compared with Starlink, which isn't visible at all from latitude 23 south at midnight on the summer solstice, there would be more than FOURTEEN THOUSAND naked-eye visible satellites from this SpaceX monstrosity.

    @sundogplanets That is shocking, but I would use “would be” instead of “will be” for the million-satellite constellation. It may never happen.

      @sundogplanets I don't even know how to imagine that. The sky would be infested with these wretched things. I wonder if anyone could simulate this in Stellarium? Might help to show how appalling it will be?

        @EricFielding THANK YOU for pointing that out! That is the correct way to say that (it won't happen - we'll be in full Kessler Syndrome long before we get to this many satellites. Still a useful exercise to show how ludicrous it is.

          @drs1969 @sundogplanets yeah. Science diagrams don't hit the feels.

                  @sundogplanets makes sitting out snuggling with your loved one while camping on a dark night looking up into the sky and saying “wtaf did they do”, can not see one star in the sky!

                    @sundogplanets do you know how to avoid these satellites to launch?
                    Ships and planes moving around in the exclusion zone!
                    They cannot launch if anything is in there.

                    Where one should be can be obtained by checking alerts on where you should not be during the launch.

                      @sundogplanets

                      AI in space means it's closer to god. Unfortunately, it makes stupid people think they are doctors.
                      I mean, Jesus Christ.
                      I'm getting my $250 worth. Here you are!
