@travisgoodspeed I had this same problem when I first joined. One thing that helped was looking at who the people I was following were boosting. Some of those accounts matched my interests well, and so I’d follow them and then do the same thing as they boosted other accounts.

Others used hashtags I wasn’t aware of at the time that I ended up liking a lot, too.

It’s not always a fast process, but it can be pretty effective.

1. follow topics (hashtags) rather than people. Eventually you'll figure out whom to follow

2. If you are coming from twitter, a lot of people you followed there may have mastodon account as well. Start by following them.

My tips: subscribe to your favourite hashtags and look at the interesting people coming into your TL.
