    @iamboyoy

    No, they're totally different social networks with no connection or common standards. You might occasionally see "bridged" posts from other social networks, but these are basically just copying posts over rather than being a direct connection.

    However, there are third party social media management services which let you post across multiple different social networks including Mastodon etc:

      @FediTips hi! Thanks so much for all your advice!

      I’m hoping to find (or initiate) a good spot for sharing music releases. I’m a music producer with a large network of artists from the Netherlands. It would be an honour carve out a little place of the fediverse for everyone to share their work and connect to fans.

      Any ideas would be much appreciated, as I’m still in the ‘hey, what does this button do?’ phase of my fediverse exploration

      @Ismellamuskus

      Hey there, welcome! 👋

      For sharing music, maybe the best option is PeerTube? It was originally designed for video as a YouTube style thing, but it also lets you upload audio files (with optional artwork).

      People on Mastodon etc can follow and interact with accounts and videos/audios on PeerTube. PeerTube can also be followed from podcasting apps such as Apple Podcasts.

      More info here: https://fedi.tips/peertube-video-hosting-on-the-fediverse/

      Let me know if you set up something, I can give it a shoutout 🙂

        @FediTips Hi there, for account verification, might you support HTML file uploads in future?

        @houseofoliviereu

        Verification usually works by having a link to your account on a trustworthy website (for example @torproject is verified at torproject.org so we know their account is genuine).

        Maybe I'm missing something but I'm not sure how HTML file uploads on Mastodon would help with that? 🤔

          @vattuvarg @FediTips I see, so my instance right now is waag.social. Does that mean I’d have to ask the moderators to verify me and my posts?

          For now, it feels like Mastodon might not be the best place for music as most posts seem pretty quiet and text based. Perhaps you are aware of instances or apps that are louder? 😇

          Thanks for taking the time! I appreciate it 🙂

          @Ismellamuskus @vattuvarg

          There are many musicians and music fans on here and entire servers devoted to music, you can find some well-run ones at:

            @FediTips Sorry I expressed myself wrongly. The HTML file verification is like: a very small, simple HTML file with a unique code inside it, upload to the root directory via FTP (yourwebsite.com/secret-note.html). A bit more technical but kinda practical sometimes as there is nothing in the <head>. No worries, I am fine how it is now. I was just wondering 😀

              @houseofoliviereu

              Genuine question as I'm not a web dev: is there a benefit to using HTML files over using the rel=me tag on links to your Fedi account?
