@zdl @MsDeathwish no

@liaizon @MsDeathwish Why not?
(Are you enjoying answering questions? Or am I doing this wrong? How could I improve?)

@MsDeathwish@kolektiva.social give it time. also content warn political posts or you will get blocked by lots of ppl.
@brettm when you say content warn do you mean literally like a "CW: Politics"? Or put it in hashtags?

@noondlyt @MsDeathwish And post, post, post. You currently have 28 posts. That ain’t gonna cut it.
@FeloniousPunk @noondlyt I can definitely do that, I only joined the other day

-
And post your art if you feel comfortable doing that

@noondlyt oh I have been doing. I have a load more I've yet to post though
-
You have cool art! Followed.
@passenger thankyou so much!

@MsDeathwish cats :3
@catsalad oh I have one of those..

Be funny. If you can't be funny, be interesting. If you can't be funny or interesting be attractive. If you can't be funny or interesting or attractive be on Twitter.
@Lana I mean I guess I can be all of those depending on your point of view

Groups and hashtags get your posts in front of people who are interested in them but might not follow you.
If you post images, a lot of people will not boost them unless they have alt text
@gbargoud thanks for the tip. I definitely need to remember alt text a bit more, thanks for the reminder!

@MsDeathwish I dont think its the right mindset to have, especially on our server. I know people who have a large number of followers and they do it by being sincere and earnest, posting lots of polls and using hashtags effectively. Also, active hours are more important and boosting your old posts during them is a good idea. There are specific hours of the day when things get traction.
But, again, I dont think you want to call it building a following. I think most people here would be skeptical of such an undertaking.
@Montaagge perhaps I worded it wrong. I just meant that I wanted to interact with more people. I don't post anything that I don't consider honest. This is a totally fair point, though. I do a lot of Mutual Aid work on other platforms and that tends to help more people if I can get it in front of more people if that makes sense.

@MsDeathwish Follow people liberally and then mute or unfollow as needed once you get to know their vibe better. There’s no stigma to unfollowing. Follow tags that interest you. Also, interact! People who just post into the ether than leave (or worst, strictly post links with no context!) are just not cool. Comment on other people’s posts, engage in replies to your own!
That’s about it!
@bougiewonderland thankyou for the tips 🥰

@brettm when you say content warn do you mean literally like a "CW: Politics"? Or put it in hashtags?
there should be an option when you make a post where you can add a content warning, eg if its about usa politicians or protests against them or wars they are starting, the usual thing is to use the cw button and label it "uspol"
(non-content-warned uspol is the worst offender, seeing as there are so many people who seem to think "here is this thing that every person on earth has heard about approximately 400 times in the last 6 hours, i'm going to tell everyone about it")
When called out, the above people say "I put a hashtag on it you can filter the hashtag" but if the reader does this they no longer get any of those posts, where many people want to get the posts but chose when to click the dropdown and read it or when to scroll on without reading.
So in summary hashtags are useless.
