@gamingonlinux Mastodon relies on reader boosts, not an exploitive AI to decide which posts have legs.
If you receive a post that is interesting, has a pedigree, and may be of interest to followers, please pass it on. Oh, and tell the originator that they done good! with a star.

@gamingonlinux Some people are anti boost (people make wierd rules on here) and won't read boosts, whatever, (do mute, it not my problem))
- but I always think the person I'm boosting is happy about it, and actually that's more important.
@TheDailyBurble @gamingonlinux If I could view boosts separately from individual posts then I wouldn't have a problem leaving them enabled.
I'm here to connect with individuals, not just a constant stream of others memes that overwhelm all other connections. I'm 1000x more interested in your post about baking an apple pie than any content boosted by you or others. If the only way to ensure your apple pie doesn't get lost in the flood is to disable boosts then I disable boosts. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ooh now - I agree with that totally!
There are people whose boosts are leading me to things I'm interested in and others it's a bit spammy to be honest.
Any control of my timeline I'm happy with though, from ignoring asshats to filtering out hashtags. I'm not here as a passive audience.But some people really do boost interesting stuff that I'd rather know about, and others just made a really good point!
