@jcrabapple I hate conspiracy theories, but I am automatically suspicious of anything musk gets involved in. Is this bogus website another tool in trump's attempt to cast doubt on election results?
Voters, check registration with your state's secretary of state via an online portal. State lists are the only ones that matter, and they are secure.
@Barbramon1 @jcrabapple Oh no, man. It's for sure creating a database for ICE and anyone else who might help destroy this country.

@crazyeddie @jcrabapple Seems pretty ineffective in that regard. How many people will actually interact with musk's shady website?
Thousands? A drop in the bucket when compared to about 175 MILLION registered in the US. Sure, they are getting personal info from a handful of people stupid enough to use it. I'd be more worried about identity theft or some sort of grift.voters.https://electionlawblog.org/2026/the-hidden-dangers-of-musks-votesafe-org/

@jcrabapple In other words, there's absolutely zero reason not to go there and fill in the details of tons of people who never existed and/or are dead other than my own laziness.
Filling in PDFs is not illegal even if every element you put in them is fraudulent. I have zero obligation not to lie through my every orifice to Musk and his pals just like them to me.
@crazyeddie @jcrabapple Why would you do that, when you can just ask his AI to do it for you?

@crazyeddie @jcrabapple Why would you do that, when you can just ask his AI to do it for you?
I think this question answers itself, actually. There's quite a lot of pain I do and would put myself through just to NOT use that mother fucker's AI.

@Barbramon1 @jcrabapple I mean is it even a conspiracy theory. Musk and his Doge bros already scrapped the Social Security Data base. Trump is furiously working right now to make it so USPS works can refuse to accept mail in ballots. They are not even hiding their contempt for the voting process.
@remywhisker @jcrabapple Without a doubt all that's true. However I really don't get how this little shady website will help chump steal an election.

@Barbramon1 @crazyeddie @jcrabapple he owns one of the largest social media systems in the world which he can use to push this to the dumbest people on the planet.

@SomeVeganCheeseIsOk @crazyeddie @jcrabapple Good, let the Twitter dumbarses fall for it. They would vote for maga anyway. Smart people will not.

@Barbramon1 @jcrabapple Voter intimidation is a thing.

@Barbramon1 @SomeVeganCheeseIsOk @jcrabapple I actually object to the idea that stupid people are "free to use" people. I've felt that way myself at times but I've also given a bunch of thought and decided there's just no redemption for that idea. It's not just wrong, it's strategically mistaken since stupid people are the far more numerous. You're really just consigning the whole of humanity to whoever can lie the best and motivate stupid people toward destructive ends.

@crazyeddie @jcrabapple I certainly can't blame you one bit for that. It just seems like if there was any good use of his "AI", it would be to point it back at him to generate gobs of nonsense garbage.

@remywhisker @jcrabapple I do not understand how the Vote Safe website intimidates voters.
What am I missing ? -

What am I missing ?@Barbramon1 @jcrabapple On its own probably not much. But where that data ends up is another matter. I'm not a subject matter expert on voter suppression. I just have an 'any information can be used for nefarious purposes' mindset from cyber security

@remywhisker @jcrabapple With the personal information that the site is collecting I would be concerned about identity theft. Anyone handing that over to musk is a sitting duck. Nefarious indeed. Smart people will avoid it.

@Barbramon1 @crazyeddie @jcrabapple I disagree. I have seen brilliant people fall for scams. People who don't focus on how they can be conned because they already have a full time job are vulnerable to people whose sole professional focus is how to con others. Never mind when the con artists are incredibly wealthy, have public standing, and own media control.

@Barbramon1 @crazyeddie @jcrabapple And not everyone is working from the same data set; not everyone has the benefit of an excellent education, good childhood nutrition, and safe learning environments. Just because someone is dumb as a post doesn't make them deserving of bullshit or bad treatment. You end up smart? You use your brains to protect and educate and help, or you're worthless to the world.

If you see ads pointing you to votesafe.org to check your voter registration, read this first.
VoteSafe is run by America PAC, Elon Musk's super PAC. It is not a government site. Its own footer says "Paid for by America PAC."
It also doesn't register anyone. The flow ends by telling you to download a PDF, print it, and mail it in yourself.
Its privacy policy (updated Aug 29, 2026) lets America PAC share your info with "business partners" for targeted marketing, or sell it. That includes whether you're registered to vote and "how you submit your vote." Popular Information found your address going to Facebook and Google, a hashed email to The Trade Desk, your usage to X, and a device fingerprint that survives cookie deletion.
VoteSafe also white-labels voter sites for allied groups, including Sentinel Action Fund and Ready to Register. North Carolina's election board warned in July that Ready to Register mailings used an outdated form, went to deceased voters, and had QR codes that could pre-populate other people's data.
To check your registration, use your state's official portal, https://vote.gov, or https://vote.org. None of them sell your data.
