Information Warfare Alert: A lot of folks identifying as militant leftists are up on Mastodon today saying this new war somehow proves that they were right in not voting for Kamala Harris since 'they are all the same.'

@mastodonmigration let's see if they show up here: https://mastodon.social/@mrmasterkeyboard/116150866115100643
@mrmasterkeyboard If you make it too obvious, they won't be as drawn to engage. You gotta make it feel authentic.

@kali @serigala_tropis @mastodonmigration What is? I don't think you hit reply because this doesn't seem to be a reply to a post.
@nazokiyoubinbou @serigala_tropis @mastodonmigration the entire non-voter drama.

@nazokiyoubinbou @mastodonmigration I unfollowed about 10 people on here earlier today over this exact issue. I need to be more careful about who i choose to follow! It definitely felt coordinated to some degree. I put variations of "shit talking/dooming/blaming Democrats the day trump bombed Iran" in their account notes. I'm keeping track of these troll accounts the best I can. What a weird day/way to try to shift the narrative.
@CosmicTraveler @mastodonmigration Seriously, there is so much blaming Democrats going on today that I'm just reeling. Literally the Republican regime headed by Trump issued the orders to attack Iran. Not one single Democrat issued that order. Not one single Democrat approved that order.
I'm not saying Democrats are perfect. I'm not saying it's impossible a war could start under one. But the regime started this war, not a Democrat.

Information Warfare Alert: A lot of folks identifying as militant leftists are up on Mastodon today saying this new war somehow proves that they were right in not voting for Kamala Harris since 'they are all the same.'
This is absurd.
This tactic was used very effectively to sow division and suppress Democratic votes in 2024.
These people are either misguided, and doing grave disservice to those they profess to support, or they are deliberate disinformation operators.
@mastodonmigration Be careful who you allow into your coalition.
-
@benroyce @geniodiabolico @mastodonmigration
I don't treat you with the contempt you show me, via facetious retorts.
Anyways, you're also treating foreign policy criticism as primarily a vector for political loyalty signaling rather than engaging with the substance.
Obama droned civilians and expanded the surveillance state. Biden armed the Saudi coalition in Yemen and gave near-unconditional support to Israeli operations that killed tens of thousands of civilians. Trump is doing his version of the same pattern.
Democrats bomb you while explaining why they had to, Republicans bomb you while explaining why you deserved it. Same old
Not from our standpoint. Kamala supported fascism and genocide abroad. Trump supports fascism and genocide abroad *and at home*. Support for fascism and genocide is disgusting in any form, but one of these is clearly worse. We can see how awful both choices are and still recognize that one is even more awful.
-
@mastodonmigration How the F does Trump starting a war prove that Harris is the same as Trump????????????
What (if anything) is even the thought process of these people??????
@nazokiyoubinbou The bloggers at Lawyers Guns & Money came up with "Murc's Law" a couple presidents ago: only Dems have agency, the GOP is just like the weather. If the GOP does something shitty, it must be that Dems failed to stop them or somehow made them do it. A lot of folks on here genuinely believe this. So the fact of Trump doing an illegal war that no one wants and Dems actually cannot stop requires some reframing.

@liferstate @mastodonmigration Actual. Literal. Insanity.

@hosford42 @benroyce @geniodiabolico @mastodonmigration makes sense, I just wish people would recognise that and accept that their true red line is "I don't care as long as the imperial boomerang doesn't return and hit me"
Same thing happened a few days ago, Anthropic released a statement against DoW, Mastodon libs rejoiced Anthropic takes a moral stand against **domestic** mass surveillance, lmao

@mastodonmigration
> militant leftistsThat's supposed to be someone who is very opinionated, or someone who approves of using the military?
@notyourfanboy @mastodonmigration rather than actually face facts about how fucked up their corporatist, war mongering candidates are (remember Bernie won the popular vote but the party chose the corporatist war lobby instead), they see Russian bots, block the sane voices and scream a lot…

Heh, I'm not seeing a peep out of them because I blocked those people ages ago for this exact reason. They never learn anything. -

Thank you for your kind words. Sorry I was just being snarky about them in that post. -

@nazokiyoubinbou The international relations corollary to Murc's Law is "actually, only the CIA has agency." A lot of people who profess to hate the US cannot imagine a world without the US at its center. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don’t see these weirdos in my feed, as a result of proactive curation on many sides since Q4’23, but I believe it’s pervasive influence
-
@benroyce @budududuroiu @mastodonmigration
I mean, if you don't know why you think on this issue the two people are different, how do you trust in your own beliefs?
From the outside looking in, it often seems like Americans just don't like the imperialism their country wreaks across the globe when the person with the wrong color on their party flag does it. Otherwise it's fine.

It's not a matter of "red lines" anymore, if every candidate you're ever presented with as an option is over the line already. We do care, those of us who are aware because we aren't eating from the propaganda trough.

Who can argue with such genius?
