I was today years old when I found out LinkedIn has a chronological timeline mode*, and why LinkedIn recommends against enabling it in the settings. Because once you do, you’ll see that people aren’t talking about AI, agents and LLMs anywhere near as much as LinkedIn would have you think. My feed just went from ~90% AI hype to one with only the occasional post on the topic. Almost as if one of the companies most invested in the bubble would use a platform they own to inflate it.
(Could be that it’s an EU-only thing? I remember hearing about an EU requirement like this in the past. If so, I’m sorry if it’s not available to you. The free market will sort it out, I’m sure.)
@anderseknert I didn't know this. Thanks for sharing!

@anderseknert In the EU, it's pretty on display, at least in the mobile app. And yeah, the EU requires any social media to have an option for chronological order.

@anderseknert we have a "recent" option but it's still full of "likes" vs actual interactions between people.

it's available in the US (choose time order rather than "recommended"). you can also choose to not see political posts.
it's still the cesspool that is linkedin but is a shallower, easier to wade through cesspool.

️ De-enshittifying LinkedIn.com for the little that I actually use it. It's a GOOD thing.

@anderseknert oh wow, I didn't know about the setting. I changed it and it feels like a different site. Instead of everyone being 10x being more productive due to AI, suddenly, I see posts about people handling work burnout and some small local co-working initiatives... It should not surprise me, but it did much more than I'd expect.

@anderseknert They introduced this a few years(?) ago in accordance with EU laws.
I noticed a big difference in my use of LI before and after the app: I'm definitely more out of the loop now, but I've finally broken free of their algorithm's clutches.
Obviously, this is not what LI likes, but screw that hellhole; if it wasn't necessary evil, I wouldn't be using it anyway,
