Yes, it's funny. It's used very frequently in Germany. Nobody questions it anymore, and I think today's generation has no idea where it comes from.

@xkcd Oh, man, this brought back a memory! Our UNIX administrator uttered the phrase "Groundhog Day" during a meeting with the representatives of a software firm who did nothing between meetings and who told us to do the same wrong thing over and over again without listening to her when she told them it didn't work for us.
