@Torithom there'll be plenty of people who will happily step into the role of Telling You How To Use [anything] Properly(tm), but honestly, if you're here sincerely you've 95% got the hang of it, the rest is just getting the feel of a new space
️ I'm US here (yeah, I know), in an area that's *relatively* pushing back against All That, I'm a musician in person (vibes, piano, jazz, little bit of everything) but I've done a terrible job of sharing that side of me on here, I've tended to focus on a blossoming new nature photography hobby, because in my view there's a severe shortage of joy in the world right now, so any small thing I can do to try to contribute to the reserves and counter that, seems like a good life goal right now ^_^ I have a few online-only NZ friends, happy to make the acquaintance of one more

@Torithom @desertsquare I think there are some common norms, but there are also some that are unique to certain instances (another term for a Mastodon server). So things done on the forkiverse.com might differ from my instance, CoSocial.ca. For example, we’re a co-op where all members pay annual dues to cover operating costs. We have annual meetings, a book club, etc. Truly a community.
@RandomCanuck that's cool, what is the main thing that unites the community? Is it the idea of federated social media itself?

@NicelyManifest yes, I've seen a few books about that lately which I've been trying to get hold of! Especially where I am right now, as an arts educator advocacy for the arts existing at all is so prevalent. And yes, not evidence based grr.
@Torithom What a splendid and of course important role you have!
If only we had politicians who actually understood education - full as it is with counter intuitive aspects that are completely missed by linear minded lazy MPs. That music is vastly catalytic across the brain - enhances other subject domains.
School taught me I was bad at woodwork - years later doing things for joy I sold most of the things I made.
