@hazelweakly Just getting control over rendering in one's own docs is enough of a trip. http://aristobit.com/blog/pages/no-emoji-selector/

@hazelweakly I vaguely remember a court interpreting a thumbs up as a "yes". I think that was on text messages, but, unless I'm misremembering, precedent says thumbs up Emojis are the same as "yes"

@CorvidCrone I understand deeply how we got here. But this, out of context, reads so sad to me
Like surely there were better innovations we could’ve done as a judicial system…

I mean, any form of communication can give rise to contract (or estoppel or whatever); no reason emoji should be an exception

️There is no universal understanding of specific emojis. Thumbs up could mean "I consent" or "I agree" or "message received".

@hazelweakly microsoft implemented this! if the recipient doesn't have the protocol enabled, it sends a formatted e-mail explaining that someone reacted to your message. got these once or twice at college.

@codinghorror I haven’t written it yet! But I have the domain weak.li so that I can eventually have the Weakly Weekly Weakly at weak.li
And I’ll… I dunno, write something. Roughly weekly but maybe not. That’s about it for planning so far.
But one day!

Many emails (as wall of text one has to read) would not have to exist if this would be a thing. -
