@Balise my god. It certainly was. I am so jealous. Whereabouts was that pic taken?

@Balise Couldn't you have got basically the same picture from the other side of the mountain if you just went in the evening?

Spectacular photograph - thanks for sharing.
If this is your photo - may I copy it for possible use as a cover for a book?
It will be accredited to you, of course

@Owen_G_Richards I release most of my pictures with a CC-BY license, so that would work and I'd be happy to.
THAT SAID - that's a picture taken on the fly with my phone, and I was traveling with my DSLR, with which I expect/hope to have (even) better pictures (if only for the polarizing filter that's slapped in front of my lens). So if you can wait for a few days (time for me to finish my trip, go home and process pictures) you might get a better one

@LucasWerkmeister That would explain yesterday's lava pillars :))

@proedie conceptually maybe, but:
- the red hue would depend on how high the sun sets behind the mountains on the other side
- the reflection in the lake does a lot of heavy lifting for this picture
- morning weather conditions are usually more favorable than evening
- this came with a cool train ride to get there too

@Balise I was just pulling your leg. This picture certainly was worth the effort.

@proedie I may or may not have given some thoughts about the angle of the sun to convince myself it would be equivalent tbh

@capnthommo that's near the Matterhorn/Cervin in Switzerland, near the Riffelsee (very accessible by train, including at that early hour on Sundays during summer)
