folks, i'm sorry to inform you that justin m. keyes, the primary dev of @neovim absolutely hated the idea of removing an endorsement by a bona fide fascist from the main webpage of the neovim editor.
what happened: i've opened a ticket asking to remove the heinemeier hansson quote; keyes responded to the ticket a few times, first with simply “don't care”, then with more angry elucidation, then closed as not planned, and finally the issue was removed altogether.
unfortunately i have only mail receipts, which missed the rage part of the episode.
added: another core maintainer of neovim, tj de vries, is scheduled to speak during dhh's omacon. well.

vimclassic is a fork of rather old version (8.x), for newer feature it might also be worth looking into evi (that forked from 9.1)
@oblomov @martin @mawhrin I've been happy with vim-classic fwiw, though it's not my primary editor either way these days. Not sure if vim9 (and thus evi) added anything that I personally care about, but obviously YMMV.
(I think maybe they're also backporting some newer changes, but probably only bugfixes rather than features.)
