I wrote a rhythm guitar progression yesterday I was unreal happy with but I didn’t record it and now it’s gone! I’m so so frustrated! I hope it comes back. Always record the idea! It might float away!!!!
@ambergrey Ooof, I’m sorry, I hope it comes back to you! I always write everything down now, I learned that lesson the hard way after having the same thing happen multiple times
Also been thinking about getting one of those little portable Tascam recorders for quickly recording something. -

@ambergrey Aaargh, annoying! I'd suggest jotting down the date just in case someone invents time travel, but like, they won't.

@ruverb I am so on board with the Tascam idea. They are such little creativity machines! Ella Feingold just did a whole solo guitar album on one
@ambergrey @ruverb I am strongly considering the Tascam / zoom recorder, but mostly to get more quality. Until then, my mobile is full with solos, riffs and what not. At least an entire song came from one of the recordings.

Bruce Springsteen recorded Nebraska on a PortsStudio 144 I believe. Al Yankovic did some of his work on one as well. You probably don’t need anything super fancy, if you have an iPhone the builtin Voice Memo app would probably work. Just something to give you an audio record that works as a reminder. -

Just something to give you an audio record that works as a reminder.@GuitarSith @ambergrey @ruverb yeah the Mic's on phones are pretty incredible really, the main issue seems to be as they're omnidirectional they pic up a lot of room side but if you're close in and the room doesn't suck too much you could probably get something workable...
Although if its for capturing an idea, then it doesn't really matter so much. -

@ambergrey sometimes when that happens to me I try to mentally retrace my steps…especially if I’m able to remember one or two of the chords, I can maybe recall the rest.
