I transitioned while on the OSMF Board. They asked how they should cover that, and let me write the entry¹
“One of the OSMF Board members has changed her name to Amanda McCann.”
I didn't mention my dead name², or state that I was changing genders³.

² a tip for cis people: you should really really avoid using, or mentioning, a trans person's previous name (their deadname).
I can't really explain it, but I (& many other trans ppl) really really don't like hearing it, or being referred to with that name.
Someone gets married, and changes their name? Many don't have a problem seeing their maiden name. But for me, as a trans person, I really don't want you to think of me as that name. -

But we really don't share deadnames. I don't know the deadnames of nearly all of my trans friends. We _don't_ share those things. -

Sure I used to try to live as a man. But “Was I a Man?” Hmmmm, complicated question with complicated answer.
I'm not 100% sure what the correct answer is.
Gender is fun/complicated!
So writing “I have changed my gender” isn't 100% accurate.
