I was raised on raw milk from the neighboring farm in rural Denmark. My parents grew up on farms with cattle, they didn't boil.Obviously, all the farms had their milk tested when delivered at the coop dairy, so it's not like hygiene was unknown or frowned upon - some lessons were learned the hard way in the early years of coop dairies.
I'm very happy with the supermarket milk being pasteurized. Also, boiling milk is a thankless job, it takes a LOT of attention to avoid burning it.
