    @mwichary Does this count?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deseret_alphabet#Alphabet

    No, it's not used in street signs or anything like that, but it does pop up from time to time, and when it does, I can tell the creator is someone who really knows their Utah history

    @mwichary A sort of a typographical shibboleth, I suppose

      @mwichary @secretasianman there's a whole saga about how the Toronto's TTC was going to release a free version of the font, but had a massive falling out with the project proponent.

        I was hoping for your help with something.

        Is there a particular font that’s instantly recognizable to someone who lives where you do, and appreciated/recognized/hated there, but completely unknown elsewhere? Something on road signs, street names, transit, infrastructure, stuff like that? I’ll share some examples in the thread.

        I’d love to learn more about these. I’m not afraid of links in languages I don’t understand, ha.

        (Also please repost for reach if you are willing!)

        Thank you!

        @mwichary I feel like Gill Sans is _very_ much of London, but that might be too obvious. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gill_Sans

                @mwichary How about video games? This font is used extensively in-world in Final Fantasy 14. It has a sort of exotic look to it, but the glyphs are one-to-one with English, so it's actually readable if you are familiar with it: https://github.com/karaipsum/Eorzean-Typeface

                (this is someone's third-party re-creation of the in-game typeface)
