I signed up for the Paris Marathon on April 12, 2026.

With one week left before Copenhagen Marathon #CPH42, the taper is on.
I tried to hit my target marathon pace (5'51") - and failed miserably (despite keeping the effort easy). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Maybe it was because I had to get today's short-ish run done in time to get back for the rhubarb pie my wife had made.
This was a nice and strong run, and I felt good physically and mindfully. I'm about as ready as I will get for now.
Distance: 7.02k
Pace: 5'26"My daughter suggested we did a short and easy evening shake-out run to prepare for my marathon.
So we did that, of course.

Distance: 2.46k
Pace: 7'43"#CPH42 in 5 days.

Awww, that's awesome!
I guess you don't have many km on the plan for the rest of the week, and it sounds like a good idea to have short runs with fun! until the big one

Except for the last .5k, this was a very restrained and easy morning run.
Not much to say. Sometimes a run is just a run.

It is a cold morning (I could see my own breath), and as I could not get to my running jacket, this turned into an improvised tempo run - simply to stay warm. Not exactly the easy last run before *the big one* I had planned for, but it was nice anyway.
Now: hot chocolate, oatmeals, and tapering.
Have a great day, everyone.

Improvised can sometimes be good! A real shake out run with the feel of a race definitely makes you ready for Sunday!
Hot chocolate sounds like just the right thing after a cold run

To be honest: halfway through, I just yolo'ed it and ran however I felt like. I might try again next time, but today is no cause for concern on my side.
For the marathon, there is no risk that I will run this fast to begin with. Experience plays a huge role, and there is a huge mental difference between today and race day. I do not have a strategy for the race yet, but by Sunday I will.
And yes, one of my goals for the year is a 4:07 marathon. I think I have a fair shot at it.

Never meet you heroes, they say. Well, about that...
I just met @coachbennett at the #CPH42 expo!!!
I am truly happy for meeting one of my heroes, and grateful. This was a surprisingly emotional moment for me.
Thank you, Coach.

Awesome!
I was just about to ask you if you were going to the expo for the race bib today before the theater show
Great to see

Today is the day: I race Copenhagen Marathon #CPH42 in an hour.
I have 3 goals:
1) To cross both the start and the finish lines.
2) To have fun.
3) To be in control of the last 10k.
Basically, I want to meet the challenge. My bib number is 6973. I think you can track me through https://copenhagenmarathon.dk/en/ or the official app.
If you are out there in the crowd, throw a high-five and cheer. It helps more than you think.
See you on the starting line.

I am ready for #CPH42. I feel good and appropriately nervous. This matters.
Aligned with my playlist (https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2UW4vSoYLOitnwZ49Fm7bB?si=_LyvGSu5TPqeusXO2tcqyg), I have a fairly simple race plan: stay the course, enjoy it, don't rush it. But as I navigate by effort, maybe my strategy is out the window soon. Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth (or until they punch the plan in the mouth, figuratively speaking).
This is about #running.

Now they're both on their way
@moelholm heading out strong with a 10 km split of 42:30, started at 9:35 o'clock and with the aim of doing a 3 hour marathon will most likely be crossing the finish line around 12:35 o'clock
@askekammer had to wait a bit and crossed the start at 10:14, aiming at a great run, hopefully hitting the finish before 14:30 for a new PV and a marathon clocking on around the 4:07 mark.
Sending strong thoughts to them on the way

@moelholm with the perfect 1:29:43 half, en route for the 3 hour marathon!
At the 30 km mark with a time of 2:07:38 keeping the pace at 4:16 throughout the first 3/4 of the race! Solid!@askekammer doing great with back-to-back 5 km times below 30 minutes and a solid 1:28 for the 15 km
Still a long way to go for Aske, but on track! -

To me that's an incredible time, especially since this is also my age group! Great running!
@askekammer just crossed the 25 km line and in a great time, heading for the 4:07 at the finish line. Quite the effort

Perhaps even with a negative split for the second half?!?
🫣🥳 The pace seems to have increased a little!Harder. Faster. Stronger. Better.
That's on the playlist for Aske! -

COPENHAGEN MARATHON DONE!!!
No new PR today - but so many other wins and great memories from a mostly wonderful race through the city. I am so happy.
There will be a full race report later. One with guest appearances from a guy with a Red Bull, a Bon Jovi cover band, and a certain coach.
And: thank you for all the encouragement on this channel. Most of it I didn't see until afterwards, but it still means a lot.

Yesterday, I raced Copenhagen Marathon #CPH42. This is my (extensive) race report.
At least the first half of the race was supposed to be just transport. Getting through without screwing up, saving as much energy as possible. I ran with the 4h10m pacers, and that was a good decision. Cruise control was activated, and instead of worrying about pace and doing all sorts of mental gymnastics on my own, I could just run along.
