I signed up for the Paris Marathon on April 12, 2026.

Solrød Rundt half-marathon done.
I knew the course like the back of my hand, and this was a nice race. However, because of the heat and humidity I had to put in a bit more work than usually; this wasn't exactly easy #running (but it wasn't too bad either). I enjoyed it, and it was fun to race the roads I run all the time.
All in all, I had a blast. (And my daughter crushed it on the 3k!)
Distance: 21.1k
Pace: 5'36" (official time-keeping)Clocking in a sub-2h half marathon in these conditions, and a hilly cross country route sure is a great achievement!!
Thank you for making me aware and "inviting" me to the race

Pace: 5'36" (official time-keeping)21 laps of easy running - where I just turned the brain off and only focused on the lap I was doing. Toward the end, though, I did increase the pace just for fun.
This was nice. I could use a cold drink now.

Or did you get something else?
And how did the legs feel after Saturday?

Pace: 5'27"Today, I broke in a new pair of shoes. These are Nike Vomero Plus, and their are ... weird. They are "tuned for maximum cushioning" - which means they are super wobbly compared to my old Pegasus 41s. I guess they will take some time to get used to.
This run was an improvised mix of easy #running and hard fartlek. I wanted to test the shoes. My first impression: they are ok, but I may need a new pair of more "normal" shoes too.

Great pace, and nice reward to cool you down afterwards!

I went a little crazy and had ... some cold water.
The legs are good, thank you. Fully recovered. Nothing to report on that account.

I'm not sure what exactly these shoes are good for, truth be told. We'll see.

@askekammer At least it is switching things up a bit

Nice and cozy 5k below 25 minutes?
Seems like you're slowly adjusting the pace upwards Aske!

And the shoes can't be that bad. Perhaps it's not a good track shoe?

Just another half marathon!

Pace: 4'56"Sometimes, pace and effort don't align... Judged by pace, this was a fairly normal long run. Judged by effort, I should hold the HM world record now (or at least a sweet deal with a sponsor).
Half of the run was through woods: lots of shadow, a light breeze, wonderful. The other half was on roads: asphalt, no shadow, scorching.
The heatwave is no joke. Rarely has a cheap ice cream tasted as good as now.

I certainly have a sweat deal already. No one seems interested in rewarding it, though...
According to my wife, I just won the prize of getting to wash my smelly running clothes and take a shower; gotta take what you can get, I guess.

Seems like a good deal, I wouldn't complain particularly about needing to do those chores after such a run.
A dip in the ocean might also be good, or some cool water in a bucket to put the feet into.
Happy recovery!

Pace: 5'45"For my morning run, I did a bonkers mix of speed work:
- 800m warm-up
- 600m @ 10k pace
- 400m @ 5k pace
- 200m @ mile pace
- 1k @ tempo run pace
- 200m @ mile pace
- 200m @ 5k pace
- 400m @ 10k pace
- 100m @ mile pace
- 1k fartlek
- and 100-300m recovery between the intervals.Even though it was hard enough, I feel I could have given a greater effort. But I think I held back a little due to the heat.
Still, this was fun!!

Pace: 5'01"After the heatwave, today is rainy and windy and feels like 7 degrees C - so I did a long morning run, of course. I have some work stuff to process (a painful rejection of a scholarly paper), so a long run in challenging condition was just what I needed.
This was a hard one, but I managed to keep both pace and effort steady and stay in control throughout. It wasn't exactly fun, but it was meaningful, and I sure enjoyed it.

I ran somewhat faster than I had planned for. This was a good run, a joyful one.

I can see that, even though it's a coincidence.
And thank you. It's my first time in this city, so a run is definitely a good way to get a sense of the place.

I think it's a pretty awesome coincidence!

I've never really ran a long trip in any major cities, but that does sound like a good way to get to know the area a bit
