For this long morning run, I ran through Hedeland (a large area of successful nature restoration in former gravel pits).

With lots of hills but almost no shadows, this was a fun and quite challenging run. And since this was a very warm morning, I had to do it carefully and with discipline.

I ran easily and had hydration breaks every 5k. Strong and in control. Still I was *fried* toward the end.

    Distance: 21.39k
    Pace: 5'46" (breaks not counted)

With today's run, I've also reached my goal of running 1,000k in 2026. (Actually, I reached it on Friday but didn't notice then.)

I've also covered the first 100k with my new Nike Vomero Plus shoes (aka the "Alfa Vomeros"). I'm getting more used to the cushioning, and they don't feel wobbly anymore. I'm happy with them, and I think they make me a little faster. I will say, though, that they are much better for roads than trails, so for mixed-surfaces runs like today, I need some other shoes.

      @askekammer

Impressive! I just did a much slower 10k and am also toasted.

Glad I finally managed to get out of the house and on the road, I'm not sure an evening run would've been better, looks like the temperature will rise throughout the day.

Sounds like you're really on top with respect to facing and tackling the challenges on the road during those half marathon sessions.

I'm inspired by the consistency and approach 😊

After a night of bad sleep (sick kid), getting out the door for this morning run demanded quite an effort. And #running it demanded quite an effort.

But the sun was warm on my skin. The beach and the sea were beautiful. R.E.M.'s "Reveal" was the perfect soundtrack. I have the ability to run. There is so much to be grateful for. We move in herds. This will be another good day.

          Distance: 5.24k
          Pace: 5'24"

Definitely appreciated the nice repeated numbers!

The doorstep is sometimes the tallest mountain in our running adventures, but once you're out there, it's often the words of the good old Bilbo that comes to mind:
"You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to"

Albeit a nice walking stick and a full backpack probably makes it easier 😅

I hope everyone will feel better soon 🙏

I had to leave my car at work yesterday - so this morning, I did a long easy run and ran to work.

This was an adventure run through both the roads I drive every morning and some free-range areas that were new to me. Lots of improvisation as to exactly which turns to take. The last 2.5k were hard (out of the shade of woods, onto warm asphalt), but all in all this was amazing.

I felt good all the way.

                  This run was a struggle.

First, I'm just not built for (or at least not trained to) run in afternoons. It is what it is.

Second, since I closed the laptop and went on vacation Friday afternoon, I have been tired. My body seems to have fully embrased that I can now just relax.

So even though both distance and pace were fine today, I never really found my flow. It was hard work. But a run is a run, and I am happy I did it.

                  Distance: 6.87k
                  Pace: 5'34"

                    Well done!

Timing of meals and tiredness is also something that I am aware of, it really makes a difference!

But, at least you weren't boring!

I've been heeding the wise words of @coachbennett for some of my recent runs and I've found some motivation and thoughts about running that gives me a new facet to it.

Especially the "how are you feeling" question has made a difference for me 😊

A nice morning run. This was just a recovery run to clear the mind and get the body moving.

I'm still tired after I've gone on vacation (a bodily response to not having to perform all the time), but at around 6k I really found my groove. The second half of this run, through woods and near the beach, was truly enjoyable.

The playlist was all Scandinavian: "Jeg har lyst til at smage alle frugter på hylden"

                      Have a good one.

Just another run. It was windy, warm, and truly enjoyable. And it got me thinking about how grateful I am for being part of the #running community here on Mastodon.

You may be faster or slower than me, or more disciplined or more easy-going. Or run further or shorter. None of that matters.

What matters is how you support, coach, challenge, and inspire. You make me (and the rest of us) better.

You know who you are. THANK YOU!!

A long morning run. This was a nice one where I didn't push myself too much but just went with the flow.

A long morning run. This was a nice one where I didn't push myself too much but just went with the flow.

This week, I'm playing around with my #running to try out some new things in terms of scheduling, frequency, and food and drinks.

Test 1 was a run immediately after breakfast. Even though it was actually a nice run and I got to see and old ship (from 1928!), I probably will not do this again...

Interesting! Sounds like a good idea to try out some new things.

Running just after a meal doesn't work for me at all though 😬

                              Great work!

I did a fartlek: 5min warm-up --> 8 pairs of 1min hard + 1min recovery running (and then additionally 2k tempo run to get home). I really got to push myself, and it was simultaneously hard and fun.

I usually run two or three times each week. These days, I test what happens when I krank up the frequency (i.e., reduce the time for recovery in-between). And today's run was the third in three days. So far: all is good.

You're really giving it an all in. I hope the system recovers well and you don't strain tendons and bones too much.

How was today's run timed with respect to meals 😅

                                    It was great, indeed.

I'm paying very much attention to my body and how it reacts, and the moment things start to feel off (hopefully it won't happen, knock on wood), I'll back off. Staying clear of injury is priority one.

The run was approximately 90 minutes after a solid lunch. That was ok.

Tomorrow, I plan for a long morning run (~15k) in the countryside.

I'm happy to hear you really focus on not getting injured.

It's quite the increase in km per week, very interesting to hear how it progresses!

90 minutes after a meal sounds quite good to me, I'd take that over directly after breakfast 😂

This morning, I did a long run. I passed by a put-and-take lake for fishing, a front-yard exhibition of plows, and the beach. The sun was shining, I listened to The Killers, and it was great.

This is my fourth consecutive day of #running as I play around with shorter periods of recovery between runs. So far, so good. I enjoy it.
