This week, I'm playing around with my #running to try out some new things in terms of scheduling, frequency, and food and drinks.

Test 1 was a run immediately after breakfast. Even though it was actually a nice run and I got to see and old ship (from 1928!), I probably will not do this again...

    Distance: 7.10k
    Pace: 5'20"

I did a fartlek: 5min warm-up --> 8 pairs of 1min hard + 1min recovery running (and then additionally 2k tempo run to get home). I really got to push myself, and it was simultaneously hard and fun.

I usually run two or three times each week. These days, I test what happens when I krank up the frequency (i.e., reduce the time for recovery in-between). And today's run was the third in three days. So far: all is good.

    Distance: 5.98k
    Pace: 5'03"

      @askekammer

      Sounds great!

You're really giving it an all in. I hope the system recovers well and you don't strain tendons and bones too much.

How was today's run timed with respect to meals 😅

        @folfdk

        It was great, indeed.

I'm paying very much attention to my body and how it reacts, and the moment things start to feel off (hopefully it won't happen, knock on wood), I'll back off. Staying clear of injury is priority one.

The run was approximately 90 minutes after a solid lunch. That was ok.

Tomorrow, I plan for a long morning run (~15k) in the countryside.

I'm happy to hear you really focus on not getting injured.

It's quite the increase in km per week, very interesting to hear how it progresses!

90 minutes after a meal sounds quite good to me, I'd take that over directly after breakfast 😂

This morning, I did a long run. I passed by a put-and-take lake for fishing, a front-yard exhibition of plows, and the beach. The sun was shining, I listened to The Killers, and it was great.

This is my fourth consecutive day of #running as I play around with shorter periods of recovery between runs. So far, so good. I enjoy it.

Just an easy morning run to the bakery and back again.

This run very much had a positive split - as running with a big bag of bread does nothing good for the pace...

Another easy morning run. It was a beautiful morning, and this was truly enjoyable.

This should have been 23k by the sea, but our plans changed and I postponed it to Sunday.

With this run, I passed 5,000k covered since I began #running seriously three years ago. What a time to be alive. Thank you, @coachbennett and the #running community!

Back from vacation on Falster, I went for an easy afternoon run.

My wife and kid wanted to go to the library, so they tagged along for the first 1.5k or so. Result: instead of easing into the run, I jumped right into a tempo run.

It was challenging, but also a lot of fun.

A long morning run to end my week of #running every day. It has been nice to run so much, and my recovery seems better than expected. Even so, my legs need a day or two of rest now.

For 17k, I followed today's stage of the Danmark Rundt cycling race (from Køge to Hastrup) before heading home. Interesting to follow the setup of the race.

With heavy legs and hard headwinds, I enjoyed the challenge of this run. It was a good one.

For 17k, I followed today's stage of the Danmark Rundt cycling race (from Køge to Hastrup) before heading home. Interesting to follow the setup of the race.

With heavy legs and hard headwinds, I enjoyed the challenge of this run. It was a good one.

                              Distance: 22.96k
                              Pace: 5'45"

A hard evening fartlek with a stomach full of smash burger and loaded fries - what could possibly go wrong?

Not much, surprisingly. It was a bit harder than usually, but it was great fun anyway. I'm glad I did it.

                              The fartlek was pyramid style:
                              10 min warm-up
                              45 sec on/45 sec recovery
                              60 sec on/60 sec recovery
                              90 sec on/90 sec recovery
                              60 sec on/60 sec recovery
                              45 sec on/45 sec recovery
10 min cool-down and then home

                              Distance: 6.05k
                              Pace: 5'20"

As the sunmer holidays draw to an end (and the summer weather had certainly already left...), I did a morning run.

The first 9k were easy whereas the last ~2.5k turned into a hard tempo run. I hadn't planned for it, but I got carried away and it was just fun. According to my app, I also did my fastest 1k somewhere out there today.

                                  Distance: 11.38k
                                  Pace: 5'25"

                                    Fastest 1k?

Seems like you need to apply yourself on the track when vacation is over and your daughter restarts the athletic/gymnastics again 😅

Does it say what your tempo was for that 1k? 🤔 (Yes, I'm curious and nosy 😬)

Yes - apparently, I did 1k in 4'27" somewhere on today's run (down from 4'28"). Not sure when it happened, but it was likely when I tried to catch up with some guys on bikes and succeeded.

When her athletics training starts again soon, I'll also be back on the tracks twice a week. This means more structured speed-work for me, even though I do prefer long runs. But a little less conversation, a little more action will probably go a long way in my preparation for Malmö Marathon (Oct3).

Ah yes! The Malmö marathon! I have that written into my calendar and at some point I forgot why. I'm definitely not running it! 😅

But then I remembered that you had that planned.

It will be interesting to see how you do, and if you're trying to see if you can beat the experiences from earlier marathons 🤩

I did a long morning run, and it was amazing. I found my flow already after around 3k, and I basically just stayed in that semi-meditative state for the next couple of hours.

Out there, I passed a lot of cyclists, some cows, a few other runners (yeah!), and one train.

It was a bit warmer than expected, so I got slightly dehydrated. It was never a problem, but I did pour down a lot of liquid first thing after I got home.
