I signed up for the Paris Marathon on April 12, 2026.

As the sunmer holidays draw to an end (and the summer weather had certainly already left...), I did a morning run.
The first 9k were easy whereas the last ~2.5k turned into a hard tempo run. I hadn't planned for it, but I got carried away and it was just fun. According to my app, I also did my fastest 1k somewhere out there today.
Distance: 11.38k
Pace: 5'25"Fastest 1k?
Seems like you need to apply yourself on the track when vacation is over and your daughter restarts the athletic/gymnastics again

Does it say what your tempo was for that 1k?
(Yes, I'm curious and nosy

)Yes - apparently, I did 1k in 4'27" somewhere on today's run (down from 4'28"). Not sure when it happened, but it was likely when I tried to catch up with some guys on bikes and succeeded.
When her athletics training starts again soon, I'll also be back on the tracks twice a week. This means more structured speed-work for me, even though I do prefer long runs. But a little less conversation, a little more action will probably go a long way in my preparation for Malmö Marathon (Oct3).

Ah yes! The Malmö marathon! I have that written into my calendar and at some point I forgot why. I'm definitely not running it!

But then I remembered that you had that planned.
It will be interesting to see how you do, and if you're trying to see if you can beat the experiences from earlier marathons 🤩

Pace: 5'25"I did a long morning run, and it was amazing. I found my flow already after around 3k, and I basically just stayed in that semi-meditative state for the next couple of hours.
Out there, I passed a lot of cyclists, some cows, a few other runners (yeah!), and one train.
It was a bit warmer than expected, so I got slightly dehydrated. It was never a problem, but I did pour down a lot of liquid first thing after I got home.

Pace: 5'37"It definitely was a bit warmer again this morning. I was surprised by the weather forecast yesterday!
That's a massive run Aske! Very well done, seems like you're also on top of the details with water and energy for the training you're doing!

This should have been just an easy one, but because it was a cold morning I dialed the effort up and pushed myself more than I had planned to to keep warm. It made the run more challenging - but also more fun!
Distance: 5.89k

@askekammer
Great work!
"All work and no play makes Aske a dull boy"
Changing it up and pushing it a bit sounds like something that will also make sure that you're in great shape for the marathon.
I hope you have energy for the rest of the day

Klart klart. Men all bets are off, når det er over 35 km.
