@glyph Shame should be rooted out of society like it's a disease, too many people go silent about their passions when we should be dancing and celebrating our immense capacity for understanding & creativity

@glyph HEARTILY agree. Deep knowledge posts about esoterica just have excellent vibes. Sometimes I even learn something and then I get to feel smarter into the bargain.

I am here for the truth and beauty of people's ornate passions, and also for their simple quiet comradery of sharing the everyday.
Thank you, everyone!

@glyph I agree! I love the passion, the knowledge and the infodumps here. I'm thrilled when I come across discussions far outside my expertise. What a joy and a privilege to get to eavesdrop on all these brilliant people.

@glyph So much YES to this, a mere RT did not do it justice. So:
Yes. Yes. Yes.

@ctwebb I agree with the sentiment, but the problem with phrasing this as 'shame' is that there a great many people who ought to be *far* more ashamed than they are, but about real harm they're doing, and a lot of them are like, in charge of the country. But "shame" over inconsequential social awkwardness, over being one's true self without harming anyone else? of course that should be eradicated.

@glyph Indeed. I love it when people treat mastodon as their personal notebook where they jot down short ideas, note what happened to themselves, or write about their plans or memories. In a way, it extends my life by their experiences.

@glyph Five days with no donations—not even a little…

All I’m asking for is help for my children during these harsh and painful times. They are facing hunger, and I just want to fill their empty stomachs. Please consider donating, even a small amount, and share this post. Your kindness can make a real difference in their lives.

It's definitely one of the best features.

That’s my second-favourite thing here. My favourite are the comments underneath from other people breaking down the parts that required context most readers were missing, which let me understand the original post.

@glyph
I love it.
Love to learn new things; admire the knowledge and abilities even if I barely understand the toots.
I follow some mathmos, and I'm so happy that someone understands that stuff, but it ain't me. Looks decorative, though.
As for the toots of makerfolk and crafters - oh joyous delight! -

@glyph public rubber ducking by passionate users on fedi is top notch to see it happen!

@glyph I've posted about my interests a few times on Mastodon, but (in general) I mainly use social media to comment on others' posts rather than making original ones myself.
That said, a few months ago, I did launch a channel on Telegram where I can put all my numismatic-related discussions in one place. If anyone is interested in seeing it: https://t.me/IntaglioMoneyMusings

@glyph nothing makes me happier than listening to someone who is passionate and really knows their stuff. I bask in that warmth.

@glyph Let me put it this way: I have almost zero interest in WWE. I love the "Sidewalk Slam" podcast from @LoadingReadyRun. It's like the topic doesn't really matter. I just love listening to people go on and on about something they enjoy, even if it's not something that I personally enjoy.
