one of my favorite things on fedi is seeing an enormous infodump that is almost totally incomprehensible to me, where someone is just pouring out their heart about a topic that they love, in some gigantic thread of intense nerdery.

@glyph I've posted about my interests a few times on Mastodon, but (in general) I mainly use social media to comment on others' posts rather than making original ones myself.
That said, a few months ago, I did launch a channel on Telegram where I can put all my numismatic-related discussions in one place. If anyone is interested in seeing it: https://t.me/IntaglioMoneyMusings

@glyph nothing makes me happier than listening to someone who is passionate and really knows their stuff. I bask in that warmth.

@glyph Let me put it this way: I have almost zero interest in WWE. I love the "Sidewalk Slam" podcast from @LoadingReadyRun. It's like the topic doesn't really matter. I just love listening to people go on and on about something they enjoy, even if it's not something that I personally enjoy.

@glyph As a caveman brain, on a relatively low scale, seeing what others can do in their sleep that goes straight over my head, I happily invite that useless info dump onto my timelines. Sometimes I share them outside of this place with others who might understand it better.

thank you to everyone who faved/boosted this, this week has been A LOT and sometimes it feels like the only things that people listen to are cries of anguish. a real W for fedi that by far my most engagement was on something positive and encouraging (even if it was admittedly a bit anodyne)

@glyph My feelings precisely.
It's one of the many reasons I fell in love with this "place" and never left.
I honestly haven't been inspired like this since the mailing lists of old!

@glyph
I had a dream in which there was something like a cross between the fediverse and a wiki specifically for this that allowed for long and article form posts and one of the main instances on it was at braindump.nya
It was catgirl themed of course and also hosted the Cat and Mouse Game which was basically a functional ARG campaign to protect this from being abused by clankers trying to connect it to AI garbage -

@glyph And even when it is a topic I dislike or have no bandwidth to read at that point, it is so easy to scroll past (maybe with a bookmark first).
I love that there is no algorithm deciding for me whether I sound be seeing this or not.
