I have taken on a rather epic commission that I'm allowed to talk about on here, yay!
Someone's commissioning me to calligraph the entirety of The Little Prince. :0
We've finalised a script and size. I'll be doing some of the illustrations that I'm comfortable with, and for the rest I'm leaving blank spaces for their partner, who is a painter (and whomst this is a gift for) to fill in.
I've got paper arriving today. It's paper I've used before, acid free, good for calligraphy, and a bit -

- thinner than the 300gsm I have here that I mostly use, which is overkill for a book. If I think this 220gm is too thick I'll pop into the city and see what they've got in the art supply shop in the arcade.
The English translation is about 17,000 words. We're doing it A5 size. It should come in at about 100-150 pages given room for the illustrations.
I'm excited!
Page 1 is done! I'll go back and erase the pencil margin and add the illustration later.

I'm not going to do any more until I get some fixative spray (arriving tomorrow). I don't usually need it, but this paper is so smooth (which I need for easy writing and legibility of the calligraphy) that the ink pigment is very very slightly smudging when I brush my hand over it.

)@alkoclick I'm using a piston cartridge to fill the ink pen I'm using to do those bigger letters, so I filled it with about 80% red and 20% gold

I'm about 7% in. Had a few off-days and busy days where I couldn't work on it, but on the good days I'll be able to do more than my predicted 5 pages a day.
