The Dutch tech platform @Tweakers has conducted a survey on operating system usage in the Netherlands.
Guess which OS ranks as the third most used...

Sounds great, I am wondering if there is a similar questionaire in germany.
German govermant said today, they will 1st focus on Android and iOS. Perhaps the EUID Wallet will come later for other OS, since there is not that much coverage

80 % still use mainstream.
The difference #murena_eos and #grapgheneos is very small.
Congratulations to #eos #murenaeos though.

Don't really trust you guys after graphene tore you apart over security a year ago. Thanks, tho.

@Walruths I'm like "well, who doesn't graphene tear apart over security" — they always communicate incredibly aggressively and have an either-or mentality about everything. Which, I get it, either it is secure or it isn't... but they just refuse to see that a gradual improvement (or even a strong improvement on an imperfect device) is at all a good thing, and that it would serve to protect the masses of Average Users better.

@Walruths @murena @Tweakers @e_mydata @gael you have to understand, GrapheneOS is the most uncollegial group in this space on the internet and everyone who is not GrapheneOS is not good in their eyes. They bash everyone in a really bad way. In terms of security: /e/OS is on par with industry standards, just not hardened for extreme risk profiles like GrapheneOS is.

Let's focus on the big mainstream issue we have, in stead of nitpicking which good alternative is better or best.
My main concern is when I won't be able to take part in society anymore (e-wallet, banking, tickets for concerts) without the need to have a Bigtech controlled platform.

@voorstad @rikviergever @Walruths @murena @Tweakers @e_mydata @gael Agree, and we should embrace the availability of choice here. We should see AOSP more like Linux, where there is a flavor for everyone. Some require Tails, some prefer the ease of use of Ubuntu. The fact that you can choose what suits you is sheer beauty.
I've been using /e/OS for more than 2.5 years now and it's has grown into a solid platform. It suits me that I can just buy a supported device with the OS pre-installed. I require a general level of security and like the enhanced privacy. But that's me, if you require something else there is choice.
Like @voorstad states, let's make sure that Europe's ambitions are turned into support for these alternative OS-es.
