@jack Cute mascot work, mostly.
@netbsd think bigger. NetBSD is mostly known for its portability. I very well remember the old black and white logo with a lot of different crts, keyboards and mice, on top a group of little devils holding the NetBSD-flag on a trident. You don't need one mascot, you need a little family of mascots. Not so many like pokemon, smurfs or minions, but at least five somethings, that resemble evolved little devils or so - holding together the flag.

@garfieldairlines I did not design the character, but I worked at Chillhop as a developer for 4 years, though, and also did some art for them.

@netbsd since you've said you're looking for something cuter, maybe ask @azonenberg ; he's been commissioning really cute art involving electronics and computers in the past.
