    Random reminder for no reason; you don't have to be good at your hobbies to do them, its perfectly fine to do them because you like doing them without having talent or whatever. You're also allowed to stop doing them whenever you don't feel like doing them anymore.

    @CarstenBoll Also a hobby doesn’t have to have a point. Just because is good enough. A hobby isn’t a waste of time.

      @CarstenBoll
      And it doesn't have to have a 'financial value' attached to it.
      Just do it for the joy of doing it.

        @CarstenBoll But I fucking SUCK at the Theremin, even after taking lessons with Peter Theremin. I have to justify that expense by at least being semi-listenable, right?!

        But yes, you are absolutely right. The joy is in the process, the doing, the learning.

          They also don't need to make you money to be a valid hobby.

            If anything, if it makes you money it's no longer a hobby.

              @CarstenBoll Well, it is a good reminder.
              Because I am trying out to get into new hobbies and failing miserable at it, partly because I suck - even though I know I have to start out bad to get better 😄

                    @carl Singing is great! Anyone can sing, just not, like, with great range probably. Which is fine - sing songs that match your voice 🙂

                        @CarstenBoll Haha, yes, indeed I can score a halloween-themed 50s-era B movie.

                        One day I need to do this instrument justice and make music!

                          @CarstenBoll oh hell yeah! I actively enjoy doing things I'm bad at because learning and improving is fun, and I have more opportunities to do that if I'm doing something I'm bad at 🙂

                                @CarstenBoll If only life were a hobby I chose from my own will, and if only it could be well discontinued briefly. Or, you know, if only we had such an outlook on what we generally view as mandatory, jobs for example.

                                          Random reminder for no reason; you don't have to be good at your hobbies to do them, its perfectly fine to do them because you like doing them without having talent or whatever. You're also allowed to stop doing them whenever you don't feel like doing them anymore.

                                          They're just things we do to experience joy and broaden our horizon.

                                          @CarstenBoll I was at a dance class and someone kept apologizing to the instructor about doing it wrong and I really, really wanted to jump in and say something along these lines, but never found a great time.
