when i first joined mastodon, after figuring out who and what to follow, i developed a bit of stress: without an algorithm to feed me, i began to obsess about missing out on a bunch of great toots.
i've since adjusted my narrative, and approach it like i'm coming up on a group of cool classmates, already in the middle of a conversation, and i just join in and have fun with it and try and keep up and try to be okay with maybe not getting all of the references and 'inside jokes.'
this is something i would have had a very difficult time doing in real life, but (and maybe it's just the drugs talking) it seems easier to do here.
this is enjoyable.
