It's a hot day here in the Balearic Islands & everyone's taking a dip to stay cool.

Including this Mammoth Scoliid Wasp, appropriately named as it's the largest wasp species in Europe. And the local sub-species, Regiscolia maculata ssp. flavifrons is even larger.

The black head says this is a male – females have yellow heads.
