There's a new spam wave, messages with lots of names and a link. Here's what to do:
1. DO NOT CLICK THE LINK IN THE SPAM
2. Click ⋯ on the spam post, then "report", and then follow the instructions. If you are given an option to forward the report anonymously, use it, because forwarded reports help cut off the spam at source.
3. Spam seems to be via account takeovers. To prevent this, use a unique password and consider using "two factor authentication" (more info at https://fedi.tips/using-two-factor-authentication-2fa-on-mastodon ) -

Typically spam waves have several different links to make it difficult to moderate them, but it never leads to anything good and at worst it may lead to malware.
At least one person on here posted that it led to malware, but I can't verify this.

Don't make the mistake of thinking "Oh, I'll do both, in order", because once you click Mute, the whole page goes away and you lose the chance to Block.
Is there a way to see a list of your Mutes and Blocks, so you can block a muted user? The only option I found was to go to the email notification for the spam, go to their account, and block from there.
