The terfs have moved the goalpoasts. Literally the day after the ban on trans people using public restrooms came into effect, the transphobia seamlessly transitioned into ableism.
They are now targeting young women using mobility aids.

@alexadeswift @alexadeswift @Dany wow, wow, wow!
As a disabled trans guy who recently got to upgrade my cane to a walking stick, I can feel this headline breathing down my neck.
I'm hoping to find a nice wooden walking stick, soon.

I have had so many people ask me "when do you get to get rid of that cane?" Even people who have known me for years or decades seem to judge my use of a mobility aid at times. They forget my fibromyalgia diagnosis came long before all the others, and I resisted diagnoses ending in "syndrome" for 15 years. Acknowledging my mobility needs enables me to do so much more now.
More people should use walking sticks, not fewer!!! We all have back problems, yo!
Please don't wait to enable yourself to be more active just because some people have their walking sticks up their asses, instead of in their hands! (Or any other mobility aid that might improve your quality of life.)
@unicorn @alexadeswift @Dany I have a repeating knee injury so sometimes I grab one of my hiking poles to help out - people need to stop being dicks about this stuff.
Also, it's not like we just had i dunno a mass-disabling event in the form of a systemic virus that causes long-term symptoms in a subset of people. Or that this event has improved understanding and access to diagnosis for various long-term disabling conditions that may or may not be sequelae from viral infection

@Dany words like "disproportionate" are doing a lot of heavy lifting in this article

@Nikkileah the interim report doesn't seem to going the way they want. I've put a link in the original thread.
@Dany oooh. I can't wait to see how they're gonna "fix" this one...

@Dany Saw this yesterday and must say this was one of the most disgusting things I've ever read.
Truly vile.

I knew that Britisch government is already after people with ADHD and autism. Ordering a Cass style review with the purpose of banning care and support for neurodiverse people. But that the fascists would move so fast into openly talking about eugenics, even I'm baffled by that.
@Dany Sadly the eugenics talk is not a new move; it's been a driving component of mainstream british fascist policy for decades now (see Austerity for e.g.). The UK terf movement has been ableist (and racist, misogynist) from the start.

@Dany @noodlemaz idk the connotations in english but in french using female instead of women is very dehumanising.

@alex @Dany Yes I think it's important to understand that this isn't new and that it's always been about fascist ideals of unity and conformity, and always been about eugenics.
Ableism has always been a part of their movement. As has for example xenophobia, in their assertions that male immigrants are responsible for a disproportionate number of sexual assaults on "British" (i.e. white) women.
