Infinity isn't a number & if you try to treat it like one it gets mad at you - and you won't like it when it's mad.

Well, he doesn't say that - but that's my interpretation.

@jwcph ordinal and cardinal numbers extend numbers into the infinite, but arithmetic gets kind of boring.

@aleph_omega_plus_four Careful. Don't make infinity mad.

Not only is it not a number, it's not "weird" either. Dude is just going for clickbait https://dotnet.social/@SmartmanApps/115642725878742794 -

"Well, it's weird for us non-mathematicians" - no, it's not weird as in it's not true https://dotnet.social/@SmartmanApps/115642725878742794 -

No, you're missing the point. What he said isn't true, that's why it isn't "weird" - to be weird it would have to be true, which it isn't. Cantor's rubbish was rejected by Mathematicians as such

https://dotnet.social/@SmartmanApps/115642725878742794@SmartmanApps No, I get it & I appreciate the correction - what I mean is, infinity is *still* just weird to a layperson, just the idea of something infinite, let alone as a concept to be elaborated on by actual mathematicians (which even a clickbaity video like this can show that people are actually doing) 🤯
