Finally got annoyed enough at some big long-time accounts never adding alt text to their images that I started blocking them. I already wasn’t following them, but people kept boosting them into my timeline.
With a newer, smaller account I assume the person may just not know to use alt text, and I’ll sometimes send a polite private message complimenting an image and suggesting alt text, explaining why. This has been well received!
But others should definitely know better by now.
