We have an important appointment to keep with our self inflicted apocalypse - after all, you can't have intelligent species randomly navigating the great filter and resolving the Fermi Paradox willy nilly, that could result in some pan-galactic utopian (C)ulture, and we couldn't have that.

Ach, @dtq1952, I'm not so sure about the ineffective bit. They have arrested ~3,500 people in the last 14 months for supporting #PalestineAction. Most iof the arrestees are pensioners. That's very effective.
And they know how to do what they are paid to do. That's not too dim.
Of course it's not just or fair or ethical. But sadly, that's where logic takes some people.

You cannot wear a crash helmet. Balaclava when you go into a shop.. you can be asked to remove it or be excluded.
