    @cmconseils

    one of those ideas that sounds good, but is impossible to put into practice, cause if you have $990 million, you can spend a few million on lawyers and accountants to figure out how to get around the law

    @failedLyndonLaRouchite @cmconseils Nothing new there.

    The poor and the middle class pay taxes. The upper middle class pay accountants. The upper class pay lawyers, and the billionaires pay politicians.
    (Not original)

    Even so, wealth taxes are easier to enforce than income taxes. The marginal rate of tax is much lower for the rich than for the middle class, let alone for the poor, because even if you ignore offshore tax dodges, capital gains are taxed much less heavily than employment.

    Mansions cannot simply be moved to another jurisdiction. While companies often have elaborate financial engineering, partly to avoid tax, ultimately they're listed somewhere.

    We already have wealth taxes for the poor and the middle class. In the UK this is "council tax", a banded annual payment based on the value of your property in 1991 (even if it didn't exist in 1991!). But we don't have property taxes for the rich.

    Meanwhile, if it even begins to work, it will greatly reduce the billionaires' ability to interfere in our political system.

        @cmconseils howabout a pat on the head and a bench in a park? That should be enough reward, no verbal praise needed! Haha

          @cmconseils How about people be prevented from being that rich and start paying at least half of all their money over $100 million in taxes.

            We can increase the limit by $1 each time they raise the minimum wage by $1

            Fair is fair.

                  @cmconseils I saw a guy at a government conference wearing a shirt that said, "Draft Congress for WW3." He started ranting about these rich fucks and I said, "We eat ONE billionaire...."

                  I made a new best friend.

                    @cmconseils toward reduce less than billion$, I suggest flip lottery for billionaires only. A ticket for 1 billion, add ticket at 50, 100, every 100 billion after and bonus ticket trillion. Annual draws 100+ and all. Winner reduced to 100 million, treasury gains. Elon could win either draw. Then X suspends me. Amend constitution, .for promote general welfare to end above law billions class and incentive pay taxes and philanthropy. !00 billion+ be gone in 20 years and big loss risk at billion.

                      @cmconseils There is ZERO chance of this happening until we confront the ongoing racist backlash against MLK & Civil Rights. That backlash is the cause of almost all billionaire wealth today. During Civil Rights, billionaires held a FAR smaller percentage of national wealth. Racist voters created the modern billionaire class with incessant tax cuts, anti-union hate, and a host of other policies to concentrate wealth away from blacks.

                        We should indeed stop to discus what the minimum is people need to survive and start talk about the maximum they need.
