@drahardja A healthy population is quite the return on investment.
Why the federal government doesn't just make any qualified researchers who wants to research medications and vaccines able to have a subsidized job at a university I'll never know.

@virtuous_sloth NIH grants were one way to do this to some extent (no more, thanks to Trump), but for-profit pharmaceutical companies have a stranglehold in the US.
