@kimlockhartga As I mentioned, I never ran across anything like this in my 21 1/2 years and that’s not to say it didn’t exist privately with some of these people but I’ve been out for almost 15 years and obviously, things can change. If assholes like the FOTUS can give the blatant racism and bigotry that was always there but kinda out of the mainstream its door to get out there, I could see this happening as well.
@BrianJopek I am dying to ask my cousin's son, an Army Lt. Colonel* why he goes along with this. I fear he may have drunk the kool-aid, or at least had a few sips. The things people will put up with just to further their career. Also, intelligence apparently doesn't protect one from cultism. We used to have miltary discipline and professionalism, a commitment to being apolitical, and not to sabotage cohesion with religious fervor.
*at least, that's what his mom said. The last time I checked, he was a major. I guess he could have moved up that quickly. I don't always understand how it all works.

Literally unconstitutional. But laws only matter when they're enforced, and this regime has learned that no one will enforce laws against them. There have been no meaningful consequences for them. No one has been impeached, no one jailed. They can do whatever they want, and they will, as long as they keep getting away with it. We're already at the stage where some people in the regime should be sent to the Hague to face charges for war crimes.

@jcrabapple My own sense is that if you dig around enough, you can find a faith tradition that says just about anything you want. The problem is, the larger and more powerful ones are either incapable of dealing with modern problems effectively, or as here are themselves part of those problems.
As much as I'd like religion to die, we have to deal with the humanity we have, not what we wish for. The future requires us to grapple with this difficult reality, because presently there is no other.
